Associate Purchasing Manager

About the Job:

In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead a wide range of projects, by supporting the procurement and project management aspects of the Company’s construction and development projects, as well as ongoing operations. Current projects include the construction of a new multi-story residential building, exterior façades, interior fit-ups, upgrades to existing buildings, solar array installations, and energy efficiency projects.

You will collaborate with colleagues from design, purchasing, sustainability, construction, and maintenance departments, taking full ownership of projects from conception to completion. To succeed in this role, you will need strong organizational skills, an ability to multitask, and a commitment to meeting deadlines, ensuring that projects are completed efficiently and cost-effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source and negotiate the purchase of goods and services to ensure cost-effectiveness and value.
  • Identify alternative vendors to secure the best pricing.
  • Collaborate to make informed decisions regarding product selections and construction methods.
  • Administer, monitor, and critically review contracts.
  • Review and analyze drawings, specifications, and submittals.
  • Coordinate, direct, and expedite project execution, ensuring timely completion.
  • Build and maintain positive vendor relationships.
  • Prepare, evaluate, and process purchase orders.
  • Seek cost-effective solutions and products, helping to streamline recurring processes.

 

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • A proven record in procurement and project management for construction or related industries.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high attention to detail.
  • Advanced analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

 

A Successful Candidate Will Also Have:

  • A strong desire and ability to learn and adapt on the job.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Motivation to collaborate in a dynamic team environment.
  • A current or near-term residence in the north-suburban Boston area.
  • Five or more years of experience in a closely related field
