Purchasing Agent – Woburn, MA

About the Job:

As a Purchasing Agent, you will play a crucial role in the procurement and logistics for our construction and property management operations. You will collaborate with diverse teams including design, purchasing, sustainability, construction, and maintenance. This position offers the chance to lead various projects, work closely with senior management, and achieve rapid career advancement. Current projects include a new multi-story residential building, exterior façades, interior upgrades, solar array installations, and energy efficiency initiatives. Candidates should possess strong negotiating, writing, and conversational skills, and experience in operational efficiencies, value-engineering proposed work, and reducing operating expenses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source competitive vendors to ensure the best pricing and value.
  • Review and analyze drawings, specifications, and submittals.
  • Collaborate on product selections and construction methods.
  • Identify alternative products and innovative solutions.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage vendor relationships.
  • Streamline recurring processes for efficiency.
  • Organize, administer, and monitor contracts.
  • Expedite delivery of goods and services.
  • Prepare and process purchase orders.

 

A qualified candidate will have:

  • Experience in project management, including identifying and solving challenges.
  • Skills in negotiating, buying, estimating, diplomacy, and consensus-building.
  • Ability to take initiative and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leadership skills to coordinate, direct, execute, and expedite projects.
  • Desire, motivation, and the aptitude to learn and adapt on the job.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Current or near-term residency in north-suburban Boston.
  • Superior accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Two or more years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • A keen eye and intellectual curiosity.
