WOBURN, Mass. (January 29, 2026) – CapyBara Energy has joined Woburn’s expanding cleantech community with a new 5,638-square-foot R&D facility at 86 Cummings Park.

Founded in 2023, CapyBara Energy develops renewable energy storage solutions designed for durability and long-term reliability. Through its use of stable, readily available materials, the early-stage company aims to advance domestic production of grid-scale energy storage systems that deliver consistent, predictable performance.

“The existing infrastructure at 86 Cummings Park, along with the surrounding tough tech community, were key factors in CapyBara Energy’s decision,” said Steve Cusano, leasing director at Cummings Properties.

Cusano noted that the startup has already received support from U.S. Department of Energy, Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, and Massachusetts Manufacturing Innovation Initiative.

Cusano partnered with Burgess Properties president Steve Nohrden on the lease, which included a custom buildout.

“Having in-house design and construction expertise allowed us to quickly equip the space with the specialized electrical capacity, ventilation, and plumbing systems the client required,” Cusano added.

CapyBara Energy joins a robust roster of innovative firms within Cummings Properties’ Woburn cleantech cluster, including Active Surfaces, Boston Metal, Daqus Energy, Emvolon, Nanoramic Laboratories, Phoenix Tailings, SES, Type One Energy Group, VEIR, Verdox, ZwitterCo, and many other climate tech and energy companies.

Cummings Properties’ 11 million square feet of commercial real estate accommodates labs and clean rooms, offices, healthcare facilities, behavioral health centers, restaurants, retail storefronts, warehouses, executive suites, and more. With a portfolio of this size and variety, the firm can meet virtually any commercial real estate need. Its in-house experts in design, construction, and property management offer a seamless “one-stop shopping” experience for the business community. More information is available at www.cummings.com.
